A range of tickets and travelcards are available to buy using the get me there app.
These allow you to travel anywhere on the Metrolink network. You can choose between a 1-day peak or 1-day off peak travelcard, or a weekend travelcard (valid from 6.00pm on Friday to the end of service* on Sunday evening).
These allow you to travel between any two stops on the Metrolink network. You can choose from single, return, 7-day or 28-day tickets, just select the start and end point of your regular journey when you make your purchase.
Any tickets or travelcards purchased using the get me there app are the same price as the equivalent printed ticket available at the on-stop ticket machine.
*End of service times are listed at metrolink.co.uk and on Metrolink stop service information posters
Once you've created your get me there app account, you'll need to register details of how you wish to make payments. The app currently accepts all Visa, MasterCard, Maestro and Visa Electron cards and Apple Pay. Your payment information is stored securely and will never be used for any purposes other than processing payments for the purchases you've made.
Any tickets or travelcards you purchase on the get me there app are activated automatically according to the day and time of purchase.
If you buy a single, peak return, 7-day or 28-day stop to stop ticket, or a 1-day peak travelcard, it will start automatically at the time you purchase it.
If you buy an off-peak return or a 1-day off peak travelcard it will start automatically at 9.30am on the day of purchase, or immediately if you purchase it after 9.30am.
A weekend travelcard is valid from 6pm on a Friday until the end of service* on Sunday. If you buy a weekend travelcard during the week and before 6pm on Friday, it will start automatically at 6pm on the Friday. If you buy one on a Saturday or Sunday it will start immediately. Please note that if you only plan on travelling on one day over the weekend, you'll get better value from a 1-day off peak travelcard.
All Metrolink tickets and travelcards are valid until the end of service* on the last day of their validity. On certain services, this may be after midnight, so please note that if, for instance, you buy a 1-day travelcard after midnight, it will expire at the end of service*.
*End of service times are listed at metrolink.co.uk and service information posters which can be found on Metrolink stops
Once you have made a purchase you'll need to be able to display it on your phone if requested, in exactly the same way as you need to show a valid printed ticket. Although you'll need an active internet connection (either mobile data or Wi-Fi) to buy and download a ticket or travelcard using the get me there app, once you've purchased it and it is visible on your device, an internet connection is not required.
Your ticket or travelcard will display on your phone screen with an automatically generated word at the top of it which changes every day. This is to prevent fraudulent use of the app and to make it easier for Metrolink staff to check.
If you are unable to display your ticket or travelcard for any reason, such as a broken screen or a dead battery, it's the same as if you'd lost your printed ticket — you'll be travelling without a visible valid ticket and will risk receiving a standard fare penalty of up to £100.
